Everybody loves feeling nostalgic or continuing traditions in the family. I was looking through pictures I have taken in the past and it got me thinking how much I love photography sessions where family heirlooms are involved. The session that made me realize how much I loved it, was my latest One Year smash cake session. This "Gucchi Goo" bib was Addison's father's as a baby! How cool is that? Getting your family pictures professionally taken is already a memorable, special moment- but adding this extra bit of love in a photography session makes all the difference. Now they will look at this picture and feel even more happiness with a dash of nostalgia.
These KC bottoms and booties were knit by a family member and they made this photo so special. They may not be a family heirloom but one day these can be passed down and make it to the next newborn's photography session!
This loving family brought a quilt that was hand made by a relative. They surprised me with it when we met that day and I think having it made them more relaxed and excited. Side note - I love fall sessions so much and I am excited to fill up every weekend with them this year!
This blog post has got me thinking of some mini session ideas! I'm thinking a tea party mini session with a great aunt's antique cup and saucer, a sports mini session playing with your dad's baseball glove, or a mini session where everyone plays dress up with your grandma's costume jewelry and old scarves! What are some family heirloom mini sessions you can think of?? Comment and let me know- I'd love to hear everyone's ideas!
